Berlin Police Department Competes in Canine Olympics
, July 29, 2010

On July 17, 2010, Canines Zeusz and Titan competed in the Connecticut Police Canine Olympics.  This was the fourth consecutive Olympics for Zeusz.  Zeusz’ handler, Officer Eric Chase, stated that he had set some goals for improvement based on their three previous competitions.  The first goal achieved was that Canine Zeusz ascended the 10 foot wall unassisted.  This obstacle is unique to the Olympic competition and difficult to practice for because it is not available to train with.  Canine Zeusz also achieved a clean break during the apprehension drill, came in 10th overall in the competition, tied for the top score in the Tactical Obedience and achieved a perfect score in the criteria for Tactical Obedience.

This year, canine Titan and his handler, Officer Aimee Krzykowski, competed in their first Connecticut Police Canine Olympics.   Officer Krzykowski was pleased with Titan’s  obedience as it can be difficult to focus with a large crowd.  During the competition, Titan excelled in the obstacle course which included jumping, crawling and climbing.  Out of the 24 competitors, Officer Krzykowski and Titan finished in a respectable 13th place.  When asked if she had any goals for next year, Officer Krzykowski said they would definitely like to surpass this year’s scores and finish a bit higher.

Officer Eric Chase and Officer Aimee Krzykowski would like to thank all the supporters who came out to cheer for our Berlin Canine Teams.  We look forward to seeing them compete in next year’s competition.
