Special Needs Registry Lillian Bolin Memorial, July 22, 2010

A ceremony was held at the Berlin Town Hall on July 19th in honor of Lillian Bolin, who tragically lost her life in a house fire in March of 2009. Chief Paul Fitzgerald presented The Smith Family with a plaque from the Berlin Police Department. The Lillian Bolin Special Needs Registry that has been created to provide emergency responders with more information about residents in town with special needs in the event of an emergency was also announced. In the event that someone with a special need requires assistance at their residence, responders will know prior to arrival and can better plan for their care. The Registry is also proactive. Should an area of Town need to be evacuated or lose power for an extended period of time, emergency services will be aware of the needs within the community. If you would like to place a loved one on the registry simply fill out the form and mail it to the police department. All information is voluntary, confidential and entered into the emergency dispatch system. If you have any questions regarding the registry, please contact Officer David Cruickshank regarding the Special Needs Registry. The Berlin Police Department would like to thank the family of Lillian Bolin, the Smith Family, for helping to make this project a reality and honor Lillian in such a helpful way.
